And the music goes on . . . .
When the lockdown started back in March the Dukes of Durham Ukulele Club and the Port Perry Seniors Club were shut down as part of the lockdown. Gord Emerson had be running a guitar lessons group in the party room of his apartment building that was held every Friday afternoon for a few years. With the lockdown there was no indoor place to play.Gord decided that the music must go on so he arranged with his guitar group that we could play Palmer Park on Tuesday afternoon and entertain the people that were in the park. Arrangements were made to play in the gazebo from 1:30 to 3:00 p.m. and this worked out great for his “Just Friends” group. The group played until Thanksgiving with few rainouts. Gord kept the music going.
He has a long history or working for seniors, having been president and director of Port Perry Seniors Club, co-ordinator of their wood carving group as well as line dancing co-ordinator among other duties when asked. He is a member of the Dukes of Durham Uklulele Club. This year he will celebrate his 90th birthday.
