The Township of Scugog has completed a Municipal Class Environmental Assessment (MCEA) to evaluate options for improvements to the Edgerton Road Bridge (Bridge No. 11). The preferred solution involves replacing the existing concrete through-girder structure with a new two-lane bridge designed to meet current standards. The replacement structure will be a 23.0 metre span pre-stressed concrete box girder bridge, expected to have a service life exceeding 75 years. The preferred solution addresses all structural defects, removes existing load restrictions, provides a widened driving platform and will improve hydraulic performance. The replacement bridge will maintain the cultural heritage of the original bridge by matching the design of the new barriers with the aesthetics and Art Deco style of the original barriers.
