Proposed Site Alteration By-law & Guidelines Update
Overview
The Township of Scugog is updating its Site Alteration By-law and Guidelines to better manage how soil, grading, and fill activities are regulated across our community.
We invite residents, developers, and businesses to review the proposed updates and share their feedback.
What’s Being Proposed
The draft Site Alteration By-law regulates activities such as fill placement, topsoil removal, and land grading to ensure these operations are conducted responsibly and safely.
The accompanying Guidelines provide practical direction, technical standards, and best practices to help property owners and contractors comply with the by-law.
Together, these updates aim to:
- Protect natural features and sensitive areas from erosion or sedimentation
- Prevent flooding and drainage issues
- Safeguard public infrastructure from damage caused by hauling or grading activities
- Provide fair and transparent permitting processes
- Support responsible and sustainable development across Scugog
