Intermittent road closures are scheduled on Water Street between Monday, October 21, and November 1, 2024. Sections of Water Street between Queen Street and Scugog Street will be closed at times during this period for milling, pulverizing, grading and paving operations.

Vehicular access may be restricted or intermittent for certain periods, during which detour routes and signage will be in place. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation during this time.

All business will remain open on Water Street during this time.

While we strive to plan accurate schedules, any forecasted date can be subject to change due to weather conditions and other factors.

The scope of work for the Water Street project includes:

  • Storm Sewer Repairs
  • Removing the existing asphalt
  • Repairing the granular base
  • Repairing sections of sidewalk and curb
  • Repaving the road
  • Constructing a new sidewalk on the east side between Mary Street and Queen Street
  • Converting the angled parking to parallel parking to make space for the new sidewalk

During construction vehicle and pedestrian access will be maintained to all businesses and parking lots, whenever possible. There may be short periods of time when vehicle access is not available.

Construction is expected to be completed in December 2024.

We thank you for your patience during the construction. We understand that the work is disruptive and we will make every effort to complete the work as quickly and efficiently as possible.

Two public information centres were hosted on Wednesday, May 22, 2024, at 1 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. in Scugog Council Chambers, 181 Perry Street, second floor.
