Residents are family.

I would love to nominate my Mom. My Mom has been an employee of Port Perry Place, for almost 21 years... since I was 4 years old! Her residents are her family. My siblings and I have all gotten to know numerous residents and have been able to spend time with them and grow to love them. We love our Mom’s job and it means so much to all of us.

With the current pandemic due to COVID-19, it has put a strain on a lot of things... and now unfortunately, the virus is in Port Perry Place. Over 30 staff and residents have tested positive. My mom still puts on her scrubs and ppe everyday, and braves going in that building. She is quarantining in her basement, with the hopes that if she also does become infected, she doesn’t infect the rest of the house. This is such a scary situation and I truly believe she deserves to be recognized for all of her hard work and effort. She puts her residents before herself, and is more concerned about them, than anything. She is incredible and is my hero!
