Application Types: Official Plan Amendment (SOP/01/2020), Zoning By-law Amendment (Z/08/2020), Draft Plan of Subdivision (S-S-2020-01) Location: Part of Lot 18, Concession 5, Northwest corner of Simcoe Street and King Street (Ward 2) Applicant & Owner: Magnum General Contracting Inc. Proposal:The applications are proposing the development of townhouse units, comprised of 33 dual frontage townhouses, 36 back-to-back townhouses and 10 street townhouses. The purpose of the proposed Official Plan Amendment is to re-designate the south parcel from Neighbourhood Commercial to Residential and permit back-to-back townhouse dwellings in the Residential designation. The purpose of the Zoning By-law Amendment is to rezone the subject lands to permit the proposed townhouse development. The subdivision has proposed road connections to King Street and Calwell Drive.
Status: The Applicant appealed the Official Plan Amendment application and Zoning By-law Amendment application to the Ontario Land Tribunal (OLT). The OLT Order, dated September 13, 2024, allowed the appeal, in part. The Draft Plan of Subdivision application is with the Region of Durham.
Public Meeting: A Virtual Public Meeting was held on February 14, 2022at 6:30pm as part of the Planning and Community Affairs Committee meeting to provide interested parties with an opportunity to learn more about the application and provide questions and comments. No decisions were made at this meeting. Interested residents can watch a video recording of the public meeting via the Council and Committee Meeting Calendar Page on the Township’s Website.
